5 - 10 Minute Beef Stew

I'm the queen of making food really fast. One trick to this is to buy (some) things pre-cut. Mushrooms are worth it, onions are not. It's just a price thing. Another trick is to buy thinly sliced meats. Thin cut pork chops cook up in 4 minutes or less, whereas thick cut chops can take foreeeever. This particular "recipe" has chunks of beef. I just buy the stew meat pieces. I like my beef pretty rare so that cuts on some time as well. Anyways!

Five Minute Beef Stew:
  1. 1 to 1.5 pounds of stew meat
  2. 2 medium onions
  3. 1/2 pack of mushrooms
  4. 1 jar pre-made beef gravy

Alaskan Pollock with Hot Bacon Vinaigrette

Due to some health concerns I have been eating a lot more fish. I actually like fish a lot, it just never found its way to my shopping cart. I can't have it fried so I've found a way to make it a little more tasty without deep frying it.

Hot Bacon Vinaigrette

1 pound bacon (I find it helpful to cut the bacon before frying instead of crumbling.)
1 large onion, finely diced
1 1/4 cup raw sugar (if you only have regular sugar, I would start with 3/4 cup, then taste from there)
pinch of salt
6 teaspoons cornstarch
3/4 cup balsamic vinegar (if you have another type of vinegar you can up it to a full cup, that's what the original recipe called for)
1/2 cup water
